When homeowners find a design build team they trust, that relationship often extends far beyond a single renovation. For this family, Spears Design Build Group had already proven to be that trusted partner through a bathroom remodel completed a few years ago. So when it was time to refresh the heart of their home, the kitchen, they knew exactly who to call.

The homeowners were ready for a space that felt more open, better organized, and aligned with how they live today. From the very beginning, they met with the team to share their inspiration for the layout, functionality, and overall aesthetic they envisioned. Through close collaboration and thoughtful planning, that vision was transformed into a kitchen that is both beautifully updated and purposefully designed for everyday living.

The Client’s Challenges

While the existing kitchen cabinetry was well built, the space no longer supported the homeowners’ needs or design preferences. Several challenges stood in the way of creating a kitchen that truly worked for them.

  • Pantry storage was difficult to access and lacked sufficient usable space.
  • A double wall oven occupied valuable square footage and no longer aligned with how the homeowners wanted to use their kitchen.
  • The cabinetry felt dated, and the homeowners were ready for a fresh, modern look.
  • Storage areas, particularly corner cabinets and upper cabinetry, were inefficient and hard to use.
  • Overall, the kitchen felt closed off and did not reflect the homeowners’ evolving style or lifestyle.

Project Goals

This renovation focused on balancing improved functionality with a refreshed aesthetic.

  • Creating easier pantry access and better overall kitchen organization.
  • Updating the layout to support how the homeowners cook, gather, and move through the space.
  • Refreshing cabinetry and finishes for a clean, modern feel.
  • Adding a dedicated area near the fireplace to display meaningful artwork and family photos.

How Spears Design Build Group Brought the Vision to Life

Spears Design Build Group approached this renovation with careful attention to both detail and daily use, ensuring each design choice enhanced the homeowners’ experience in the space.

The existing double wall oven was removed and replaced with a spacious corner pantry, significantly improving storage capacity and making pantry items easier to see and access.

Custom cabinetry was paired with smart storage solutions to maximize efficiency without sacrificing style. Features such as a pull down spice rack and lower cabinet pullouts make organizing and accessing everyday items effortless.

One of the more intricate aspects of the renovation involved filling in the hardwood flooring where the cabinet layout changed. The team carefully matched the new hardwood to the existing floors, creating a seamless look throughout the kitchen.

A frosted glass pantry door added visual interest while subtly separating the storage area from the rest of the kitchen. To complete the space, a custom oak mantle was installed above the fireplace, providing the perfect place to showcase artwork, photographs, and personal details that make the house feel like home.

Products and Finishes

This kitchen renovation features carefully selected materials that balance durability, functionality, and timeless style.

With improved storage, updated finishes, and intentional design details throughout, the kitchen now supports the way the family lives while reflecting their personal style.
