Home Exterior Renovation & Whole-Home Exterior Refresh
A retired couple approached Spears Design Build Group looking to modernize the exterior of their home and resolve years of piecemeal updates that left the property feeling visually disconnected. Previous additions and renovations had created inconsistencies in materials, window styles, and architectural details, resulting in an exterior that no longer felt cohesive.
The goal was not simply to replace aging materials, but to create a seamless exterior renovation that unified the home’s architecture while improving performance, durability, and curb appeal.
The Challenge
Over time, multiple exterior updates had created a fragmented appearance across the property. Existing windows varied between casement and double-hung styles, while siding transitions between the original structure and later addition lacked continuity. Aging materials also contributed to reduced energy efficiency and an outdated overall appearance.
The homeowners wanted the home to feel intentional again, with a clean, consistent exterior that respected the existing architecture while introducing a more refined and updated aesthetic.
Design & Construction Approach
To create a cohesive transformation, the Spears team focused on simplifying and unifying the home’s exterior elements through coordinated material selections and architectural detailing.
The renovation included the removal of the original concrete porch stoop and elimination of an outdated secondary entry door that no longer served the home’s layout or functionality. These changes immediately streamlined the facade and improved visual balance.
All existing windows were replaced with Andersen 400 Series wood double-hung units, creating consistency across the entire home while significantly improving energy efficiency and natural light performance.
The exterior siding was fully updated using prefinished LP engineered wood siding, allowing the addition and original structure to read as one cohesive design. New aluminum fascia, soffit panels, gutters, and trim coil completed the refresh, providing crisp detailing and long-term durability throughout the exterior envelope.
To ensure continuity across the property, the garage siding and trim were also replaced to match the newly renovated home exterior.
