Adding a Special Blend of Modern Style with a Rustic Touch
When a busy family in a rural community realized their home no longer fit their needs, they turned to Spears Design Build Group to reimagine their main level. Their kitchen, though once updated with painted cabinets and new countertops, felt dated and lacked the storage and flow their growing family needed. The flooring was another challenge, with each room featuring a different material that disrupted the flow of the home. Most importantly, the family wanted to honor their home’s character by preserving the original brick wall in the kitchen while blending it seamlessly into a fresh, modern design.
Our team began by removing the mismatched flooring in the entry, hallway, dining room, bathroom, and kitchen. We replaced it all with luxury vinyl plank in a warm, artisan-inspired finish that unified the entire space and offered long-lasting durability. The kitchen layout was redesigned to include additional tall cabinets, providing valuable pantry storage and improving functionality. Rich walnut-stained maple cabinets paired with honey bronze pulls added timeless style and warmth that complemented the existing brick feature wall.
Granite countertops in the Mona Lisa style brought elegance and durability, while the glossy Marlow backsplash tile introduced a subtle texture and light. A farmhouse-style apron-front sink and a champagne bronze faucet combined practicality with charm. Finally, the walls were painted in Sherwin Williams White Duck to complete the look and create an inviting, cohesive space that perfectly balances modern comfort with rustic character.
The result is a functional, beautiful main level where design and purpose come together, giving this family a space that feels fresh, connected, and truly their own.
